The introduction of 5G will drastically change our lives and the way we use the internet.

Faster, inter-connected, cross-sectorial. 5G will empower the manner we connect with our environment. This new network will facilitate the implementation of smart cities & villages and will create a variety of new business ideas. But what opportunities, and what challenges arise with the 5G digital network?

In a hyperconnected world, where cyberterrorism and espionage have become a national security priority, the introduction of 5G network generates a certain amount of scepticism and controversy regarding the protection of both user and country data.

EU40, MEP Eva Kaili (S&D) and MEP Franc Bogovič (EPP) are are hosting a roundtable discussion with the aim of exploring the opportunities, as well as the challenges that the implementation of 5G network in the EU may bring.

Abraham Liu, Huawei Chief Representative to the European Institutions, will be joining the debate.

The event will take place in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on December 18th 2019; from 16:00 to 18:00 Room LOW N3.1
