How can we use technology to fight the coronavirus?

Huawei’s Abraham Liu joined European policymakers to answer the question: how can technology help us fight COVID-19?

Will the introduction of high speed, high capacity 5G networks make Europe a stronger, safer place? Can they be used to help European healthcare systems cope with crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic we are currently witnessing?

European citizens are now asking these questions of their elected officials and decision-makers. On 3 April, Mr Liu joined a panel of EU policymakers and other experts including:

• Eva Kaili, MEP and Chair of the Panel for the Future of Science and Technology
• Pearse O'Donohue, Director, Future Networks at the European Commission
• Professor Jean Louis Koeck, Founder of MesVaccins.net

Together, they answered questions raised by citizens during the online phase of the debate, which also featured recorded responses to questions from Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for a Europe fit for the Digital Age, and Vytenis Andriukaitis, WHO Special Envoy for the European region and former European Commissioner for Health.
